10RCA is a 10-day standard triple therapy regimen used for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection. It consists of a proton pump inhibitor (rabeprazole), a macrolide antibiotic (clarithromycin), and a penicillin-type antibiotic (amoxicillin). Rabeprazole reduces gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase pump in parietal cells, which increases the pH of the stomach and enhances the stability and efficacy of the co-administered antibiotics. Clarithromycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 23S rRNA of the 50S ribosomal subunit, while amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins. This combination is typically administered twice daily for 10 days and was evaluated by the Buddhist Tzu Chi General Hospital in clinical trials comparing it to sequential therapy regimens.
