Overview

RABI-767 is a novel, investigational small molecule lipase inhibitor developed for the treatment of acute pancreatitis, particularly in patients predicted to progress to severe disease. It is administered via endoscopic ultrasound-guided peripancreatic injection. The drug works by inhibiting pancreatic lipase activity, thereby halting the cascade of fat necrosis—a key driver of tissue injury, systemic toxicity, organ failure, and mortality in severe acute pancreatitis. Preclinical studies have shown that RABI-767 decreases the breakdown and release of both unsaturated and saturated fats during acute pancreatitis attacks. The drug has received FDA Fast Track designation and is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials for its safety and efficacy in this indication[1][3][4][5].
