Rabicide

Rabicide is an inactivated rabies vaccine developed by Indian Immunologicals Limited for veterinary use. The vaccine is produced using the Pitman Moore strain of the rabies virus, which is propagated in BHK-21 (Baby Hamster Kidney) cell culture. Following cultivation, the virus is inactivated with beta-propiolactone to ensure safety while maintaining its immunogenic properties. It is formulated with an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant to enhance the host's immune response. Rabicide is indicated for the active immunization of various domestic animals, including dogs, cats, cattle, sheep, goats, and horses, to prevent rabies infection. Upon administration, the vaccine stimulates the production of virus-neutralizing antibodies, providing protective immunity against subsequent exposure to the rabies virus. It is a critical tool in veterinary public health and rabies control programs.
