Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rabies Immunostimulant is a USDA-licensed veterinary biological product consisting of an inactivated suspension of *Propionibacterium acnes*. Developed by ImmunoDynamics, it is specifically indicated for use in horses as an adjunct to rabies vaccination. The drug functions as a non-specific immunomodulator that enhances the animal's immune response by activating macrophages and stimulating the production of key cytokines, such as interleukin-1 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha. This cellular activation leads to an increased antibody response to the rabies antigen, thereby providing more robust protection following vaccination. It is typically administered via intravenous injection.
