Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RNAcure's rabies mRNA vaccine is an investigational prophylactic vaccine designed to prevent rabies infection. It utilizes messenger RNA (mRNA) technology to deliver the genetic sequence of the rabies virus glycoprotein G (RABV-G) into host cells. Once inside, the cells translate the mRNA into the viral glycoprotein, which is then presented to the immune system to elicit a robust response, including the production of neutralizing antibodies and the activation of T-cells. This mRNA-based approach, typically delivered via lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), aims to offer a safer and more scalable alternative to traditional inactivated rabies vaccines. The candidate is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
