Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rabix-VC is an inactivated rabies vaccine developed by Incepta Pharmaceuticals. It is produced using the Pitman-Moore strain of the rabies virus, which is cultivated on Vero cells, inactivated with beta-propiolactone, and subsequently purified and freeze-dried. The vaccine is indicated for both pre-exposure prophylaxis in individuals at high risk of rabies contact and post-exposure prophylaxis following suspected exposure to the virus. It functions by stimulating the immune system to produce neutralizing antibodies against the rabies virus. Rabix-VC is administered via intramuscular or intradermal injection and has been evaluated for safety and immunogenicity in clinical trials.
