Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Surerab (also known as SURE RAB) is an inactivated, purified, and lyophilized cell culture-derived rabies vaccine developed and marketed by N. R. Biotech. The vaccine is prepared from the Pitman Moore strain of the rabies virus and is indicated for both pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis against rabies in individuals of all age groups. Clinical evaluation in a Phase III randomized, open-label trial demonstrated that Surerab is comparable to the reference vaccine VERORAB in terms of safety and immunogenicity, with all subjects achieving protective antibody titers (≥0.5 IU/mL). While N. R. Biotech is identified as a developer and supplier in the context, it is also noted as a distributor of generic pharmaceutical products in India.
