Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Wuxueqing refers to the serum-free rabies vaccine (Vero cell) developed and manufactured by Shanghai Rongsheng Biopharmaceutical. This vaccine is produced using advanced serum-free cell culture technology, which eliminates the use of animal-derived serum (such as bovine serum) during the cultivation of the rabies fixed virus in Vero cells. This manufacturing approach is designed to enhance product safety by minimizing the risk of allergic reactions to residual animal proteins and reducing the potential for contamination with adventitious agents. The vaccine contains inactivated rabies virus (typically the Pitman-Moore strain) and is indicated for both pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis against rabies. It works by stimulating the host's immune system to produce neutralizing antibodies that target the rabies virus glycoprotein, thereby providing active immunity against the pathogen.
