Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rabies vaccine (Vero cell) (CpG adjuvanted) is a prophylactic vaccine candidate being developed by Zhuoyi Biological for the prevention of rabies. The vaccine is produced using Vero cell culture technology and is formulated with a CpG oligodeoxynucleotide adjuvant. This adjuvant functions as a Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) agonist, which stimulates the innate immune system and enhances the production of type I interferons and pro-inflammatory cytokines. The source context also attributes the mechanism to the STING (Stimulator of Interferon Genes) pathway, which plays a crucial role in sensing DNA and mediating immune activation. By combining the rabies antigen with this potent adjuvant, the vaccine aims to provide robust and long-lasting protection against rabies virus infection. It is currently in the IND-enabling or early clinical development stage.
