Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rabies vaccine (Vero cell, freeze-dried) is an inactivated viral vaccine developed by Liaoning Yisheng Biological Pharmaceutical for the prevention of rabies in humans. The vaccine is produced by cultivating the CTN-1 strain of the rabies virus in Vero cell cultures. Following cultivation, the virus is inactivated using beta-propiolactone, concentrated, purified through chromatography, and subsequently lyophilized to ensure stability. It is indicated for both pre-exposure prophylaxis in individuals at high risk of contact with the rabies virus and post-exposure prophylaxis following potential exposure. Upon administration, the vaccine stimulates the host immune system to produce specific neutralizing antibodies that provide active immunity against the rabies virus, thereby preventing the development of the fatal neurological symptoms associated with the disease.
