Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rabifast is a brand of rabeprazole sodium, a substituted benzimidazole and proton pump inhibitor (PPI) developed and marketed by Zuventus Healthcare. It functions by covalently binding to and inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme (the gastric proton pump) on the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells, thereby blocking the final step of gastric acid secretion. Rabifast is indicated for the treatment of acid-related disorders, including duodenal ulcers, benign gastric ulcers, and gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is available in various formulations, including enteric-coated tablets and combination products with prokinetic agents like domperidone or levosulpiride.
