Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RabiVax-S is a thermostable, single-dose formulation of the Serum Institute of India's (SII) inactivated rabies vaccine, Rabivax-S. Developed using VitriVax's proprietary ALTA® (Atomic Layering for Therapeutic Assistance) platform, the vaccine is engineered to eliminate the need for cold-chain logistics and to provide a full course of immunization in a single injection. The ALTA® technology involves a spray-drying process that encapsulates the vaccine antigens in a protective sugar-glass matrix, which can be tailored for immediate or sustained release to mimic a prime-boost regimen. This candidate is intended for both pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis of rabies, particularly in low- and middle-income countries where cold-chain infrastructure is limited. It is currently in preclinical development with support from the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).
