Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rabix-IG is an equine-derived rabies immunoglobulin (ERIG) developed by Incepta Vaccines for passive immunization against rabies. It consists of purified fragments of anti-rabies immunoglobulin obtained from the serum of healthy equines that have been immunized against the rabies virus. The product is indicated for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) in individuals who have had contact with a rabid or suspected rabid animal. By providing immediate, pre-formed antibodies, Rabix-IG neutralizes the rabies virus at the site of exposure before it can enter the central nervous system, bridging the immunity gap until the patient's own immune system produces antibodies in response to active vaccination. It is typically administered via wound infiltration and intramuscular injection.
