Overview

Racegel is a thermo-gelifiable gingival retraction gel developed by Septodont for use in restorative dentistry. It is designed to provide temporary displacement of the gingival margin and ensure a dry environment (hemostasis) for accurate dental impressions. The product contains 25% aluminum chloride, which acts as an astringent to control bleeding and crevicular fluid. A key feature of Racegel is its thermo-gelifiable property: it maintains a low viscosity at room temperature for easy application via a syringe and transforms into a higher-viscosity gel at body temperature, allowing it to remain stable within the gingival sulcus. It can be used as a standalone cordless retraction material or in conjunction with traditional retraction cords to enhance sulcus opening.
