Overview

Racepinephrine is a racemic mixture of d-epinephrine and l-epinephrine enantiomers. It is a small molecule bronchodilator used for the temporary relief of mild symptoms of intermittent asthma such as wheezing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. Racepinephrine acts as a non-selective agonist at alpha-adrenergic receptor and beta-adrenergic receptor (including α1, α2A, β1, and β2), leading to relaxation of airway smooth muscle (bronchodilation) and improved airflow. It is available over-the-counter in inhalation form for use with nebulizers or atomizers[1][2][3][4][5][8].
