Racestyptine

Racestyptine is a topical hemostatic and astringent solution used in dentistry for gingival retraction and the control of capillary bleeding. Developed by Septodont, the formulation typically contains 25% aluminum chloride and oxyquinoline sulfate. Aluminum chloride acts as an astringent by precipitating tissue proteins, which causes local tissue contraction and temporary shrinkage of the gingival margin, facilitating accurate dental impressions. Oxyquinoline sulfate provides antiseptic properties to the solution. It is commonly used in conjunction with retraction cords during prosthodontic procedures to ensure clear visualization of subgingival margins.
