Overview

Radalbuvir is an experimental antiviral small molecule developed by Gilead Sciences for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. It acts as a non-nucleoside inhibitor of the HCV NS5B RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, specifically binding to thumb site II of the enzyme. Radalbuvir selectively inhibits HCV genotype 1 replication and demonstrates high metabolic stability in preclinical models. The drug was evaluated in clinical trials for chronic hepatitis C but development has been discontinued[1][3][4][7].
