This is a combination regimen consisting of external beam radiation therapy, paclitaxel, carboplatin, and dasatinib. Paclitaxel is a microtubule-stabilizing chemotherapeutic agent that inhibits cell division. Carboplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic that induces DNA crosslinking and apoptosis. Dasatinib is an oral small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting BCR-ABL and Src family kinases, among others; it disrupts signaling pathways involved in tumor growth and survival. Radiation therapy damages DNA directly through ionizing radiation to induce cancer cell death. This multi-modality approach aims to enhance antitumor efficacy by combining cytotoxic chemotherapy, targeted inhibition of oncogenic kinases, and direct DNA damage from radiation.
