Overview

Radilex is a synthetic peptide derivative of Homspera (a synthetic version of the neuropeptide Substance P), developed by ImmuneRegen BioSciences. It was specifically designed as a medical countermeasure for Acute Radiation Syndrome (ARS), with a focus on treating the hematopoietic syndrome resulting from high-dose radiation exposure. Radilex functions as an agonist of the Neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor, mimicking the biological activity of Substance P to stimulate the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. By enhancing the recovery of white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets, the drug was intended to improve survival following radiological or nuclear incidents. Development of Radilex has effectively ceased following the financial instability and cessation of active operations by its parent company, IR Biosciences Holdings.
