Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Radspherin (radium Ra 224-labeled calcium carbonate microparticles) is an investigational, receptor-independent, alpha-emitting radiopharmaceutical developed by Oncoinvent for the local treatment of metastatic cancers in body cavities, particularly peritoneal carcinomatosis. It consists of biodegradable calcium carbonate microparticles that act as carriers for the alpha-emitting radionuclide radium-224 (224Ra). Administered intraperitoneally following cytoreductive surgery (with or without hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, HIPEC), the microparticles distribute throughout the peritoneal cavity and deliver short-range, high-energy alpha radiation to eliminate residual microscopic disease and free-floating cancer cells while sparing surrounding healthy tissues.
