Radix actinidiae chinensis is the dried root of *Actinidia arguta* (Sieb. et Zucc) Planch. ex Miq., widely used in traditional Chinese medicine and known as "tengligen" in pinyin. It is traditionally used to invigorate the spleen, dispel dampness, clear heat, detoxify, dissipate phlegm, and resolve masses. Modern pharmacology demonstrates antitumor activities, including inhibition of proliferation, migration, and invasion, and induction of autophagy and apoptosis in several cancer cell types such as colorectal, liver, and renal cancers. Key bioactive compounds include ursolic acid, quercetin, asiatic acid, and β-sitosterol. Mechanistically, radix actinidiae chinensis has been shown to induce autophagy and apoptosis through inhibition of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR and Notch signaling pathways, modulation of inflammation (e.g., TNF-α, IL-6), and effects on intestinal flora.
