Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Radix Morindae Officinalis, known as Ba Ji Tian in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), is the dried root of *Morinda officinalis* How (family Rubiaceae). It is a cornerstone of TCM pharmacopoeia, traditionally classified as a kidney-yang tonic and used to treat conditions such as impotence, male and female infertility, chronic rheumatism, and geriatric symptoms. The herb contains a variety of bioactive constituents, including oligosaccharides (such as bajijiasu), iridoid glycosides, and anthraquinones. Modern pharmacological research indicates that Radix Morindae Officinalis possesses neuroprotective, antidepressant, and antioxidant properties, and it is frequently incorporated into complex herbal formulations to modulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis and improve reproductive health.
