Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OBM-A01 (RadProtect) is a sustained-release, amifostine-based formulation developed by Original BioMedicals for the prevention and treatment of radiation injury, including acute radiation syndrome (ARS). It utilizes a proprietary chelating-complex micelle and triggered-release technology, where amifostine is encapsulated in polyethylene glycol-b-poly(glutamic acid) micelles and stabilized by iron (II) ions. This formulation significantly extends the half-life of amifostine, providing prolonged cytoprotection and free-radical scavenging activity to protect healthy tissues and organs (such as bone marrow and salivary glands) from ionizing radiation. OBM-A01 is also being explored as an ultrasound contrast agent.
