Overview
RAGWITEK (ragweed pollen allergen extract) is a sublingual allergen immunotherapy (SLIT) tablet developed by ALK-Abelló in collaboration with Merck. It is composed of a standardized extract from short ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) pollen, specifically standardized to 12 Amb a 1-U per tablet. The drug is indicated for the treatment of short ragweed pollen-induced allergic rhinitis, with or without conjunctivitis, in individuals aged 5 through 65 years. Its mechanism of action involves the induction of immune tolerance through repeated sublingual exposure to the allergen, which modulates the IgE-mediated allergic response and reduces symptoms upon subsequent natural exposure to ragweed pollen.
