Overview

Ragweed allergen immunotherapy developed by HAL Allergy Holding is a treatment for ragweed-induced respiratory allergies, such as allergic rhinitis and allergic asthma. The program encompasses both subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT), typically utilizing aluminum-adsorbed allergenoids (branded as PURETHAL), and sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT), which involves allergen extracts administered as drops (branded as SUBLIVAC). The mechanism of action involves the controlled, repeated exposure to ragweed pollen allergens to desensitize the immune system. This process induces the production of allergen-specific IgG4 antibodies, modulates T-cell responses (promoting regulatory T cells), and reduces the activation of mast cells and basophils, ultimately leading to long-term clinical tolerance and a reduction in allergic symptoms.
