raloxifene

Raloxifene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) used to prevent and treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and to reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women who are at high risk or have osteoporosis. It acts as an estrogen agonist on bone, increasing bone density, and as an antagonist on breast tissue, blocking the effects of estrogen that can promote tumor growth. Raloxifene exhibits tissue-selective activity by mimicking or blocking estrogen depending on the target tissue. It was first approved by the FDA in 1997 under the brand name Evista[1][3][4][7].
