Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ramelix (also known as Remelix) is a novel, sterile, injectable biological therapy developed by Prudentix and its spin-off Planeeria for the regeneration and healing of articular cartilage and ligaments in traumatized joints. The active ingredient is recombinant human amelogenin (rAmelX), an extracellular matrix protein produced using genetic recombination technology. Amelogenin acts as a biological scaffold and signaling molecule, recruiting endogenous mesenchymal stem cells and pericytes to the injury site and promoting their proliferation and differentiation into chondrocytes. This coordinated healing of both hyaline cartilage and subchondral bone helps restore joint structure and mechanical strength, potentially preventing the progression of post-traumatic osteoarthritis. Ramelix is currently being evaluated in clinical trials as a surgical adjunct for patients with symptomatic osteochondral defects of the knee or ankle undergoing standard arthroscopic surgery.
