Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ramipril + atenolol is a fixed-dose combination of two antihypertensive agents used to treat high blood pressure and reduce cardiovascular risk. Ramipril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that works by blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Atenolol is a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker that decreases heart rate and cardiac output, further lowering blood pressure. The combination targets different mechanisms in the regulation of blood pressure, providing additive or synergistic effects for patients who require more than one agent for optimal control.
