Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a fixed-dose combination drug containing three active pharmaceutical ingredients: ramipril, atenolol, and hydrochlorothiazide. Ramipril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that relaxes blood vessels by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, thereby lowering blood pressure. Atenolol is a beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist (beta-blocker) that reduces heart rate and cardiac output, further contributing to antihypertensive effects. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that promotes the excretion of sodium and water from the kidneys, reducing blood volume and thus lowering blood pressure. This combination targets multiple mechanisms involved in hypertension management and may be used for patients requiring more than one agent for adequate control[5][6]. The primary indication is essential hypertension.
