Ramisyn

Ramisyn (ramipril) is an approved angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor marketed by Provident Pharmaceuticals in Greece. It is a small molecule prodrug that undergoes hepatic metabolism to its active form, ramiprilat. The drug works by inhibiting the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS), specifically by blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to the potent vasoconstrictor angiotensin II. This action results in systemic vasodilation, reduced peripheral vascular resistance, and a subsequent decrease in blood pressure. Ramisyn is primarily indicated for the treatment of hypertension and is also utilized in the management of heart failure, reduction of cardiovascular risk in high-risk patients, and improvement of survival outcomes following myocardial infarction.
