Overview

Ramucirumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets and inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2), thereby blocking the binding of VEGF ligands and inhibiting angiogenesis, which is critical for tumor growth and metastasis. Paclitaxel and docetaxel are taxane-class small molecule chemotherapeutic agents that stabilize microtubules, preventing cell division. Irinotecan is a topoisomerase I inhibitor that interferes with DNA replication in cancer cells. These drugs are used in various combinations for the treatment of advanced or metastatic cancers, particularly gastric/gastroesophageal junction cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and colorectal cancer. Ramucirumab is developed by Eli Lilly and marketed under the brand name Cyramza[5][6][7]. Paclitaxel (Taxol) was originally developed by Bristol Myers Squibb; docetaxel (Jevtana) by Sanofi; irinotecan (Camptosar) by Pfizer.
