Overview

Ramulus Cinnamomi, known as Guizhi in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), consists of the dried twigs of *Cinnamomum cassia* (L.) Presl. It is a complex botanical preparation that has been documented in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia since 1973. The extract contains over 120 chemical compounds, including volatile oils such as cinnamaldehyde and organic acids like cinnamic acid. As a multi-component botanical mixture, it modulates several biological pathways, including the PI3K/Akt, Akt/ERK, and PLK1/CDK1/Cyclin B signaling axes. Research has demonstrated its potential therapeutic activities, including anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, antipyretic, and antitumor effects. It is primarily investigated for conditions such as colon cancer, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and gastrointestinal dysfunction.
