Overview

Ranicabtagene autoleucel (HICARA, HR-001) is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy developed by Shanghai HRAIN Biotechnology. It is engineered to target the CD19 antigen, which is highly expressed on the surface of B-cell lineage cells. The therapy involves collecting a patient's T cells, genetically modifying them to express a CAR specific for CD19, and re-infusing them into the patient. Once re-infused, these cells recognize and kill CD19-positive malignant B-cells. It has received approval in China for the treatment of adult patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL) and is being developed for B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL).
