Overview

Ranimustine is a nitrosourea alkylating agent used primarily in Japan for the treatment of chronic myelogenous leukemia and polycythemia vera. It acts by alkylating and cross-linking DNA strands in tumor cells, thereby inhibiting their proliferation and growth. The drug is also used as part of combination chemotherapy regimens for certain lymphomas and has been investigated in clinical trials for other cancers. Developed by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma, ranimustine is administered intravenously or orally depending on the regimen[1][2][3][7]. Its mechanism of action involves DNA damage through alkylation and cross-linking[1][7].
