Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RaniPill GO is an innovative oral drug delivery platform developed by Rani Therapeutics, designed to enable the oral administration of biologics and large molecules that are typically limited to intravenous or subcutaneous injection. The technology utilizes a sophisticated robotic capsule that protects the drug payload from the acidic environment of the stomach. Upon reaching the small intestine, the capsule's pH-sensitive coating dissolves, triggering a chemical reaction that inflates a small balloon. This balloon provides the mechanical force to push a drug-loaded dissolvable microsyringe into the highly vascularized intestinal wall, allowing the medication to enter the bloodstream with high bioavailability. The platform is capable of delivering payloads up to 3mg and is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for various indications, including osteoporosis and autoimmune diseases.
