Overview
Ranizurel is a biosimilar of ranibizumab, a recombinant humanized IgG1 kappa isotype monoclonal antibody fragment that selectively binds to and inhibits the biological activity of human vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A). By blocking VEGF-A, it prevents abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage in the eye. This mechanism helps treat vision loss associated with neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, myopic choroidal neovascularization (mCNV), and macular edema following retinal vein occlusion. Ranizurel is administered as an intravitreal injection by an ophthalmologist[2][5][8].
