Overview

Ranwell is an extended-release tablet formulation of ranolazine, a small molecule antianginal agent developed and marketed by Cam Neuro Pharma in India. It is indicated for the long-term management of chronic stable angina pectoris, particularly in patients who remain symptomatic despite treatment with first-line antianginal therapies. Ranolazine's primary mechanism of action involves the selective inhibition of the late inward sodium current (INaL) in cardiac myocytes. By reducing this current, the drug prevents the pathological accumulation of intracellular sodium and the subsequent calcium overload via the sodium-calcium exchanger. This leads to improved myocardial relaxation, decreased left ventricular diastolic stiffness, and enhanced oxygen efficiency without significantly affecting heart rate or blood pressure.
