Overview

Rap1 siRNA is a small interfering RNA molecule designed to silence the expression of Rap1, a member of the Ras family of small GTPases. In the context of oncology research, particularly glioblastoma, Rap1 siRNA is used to investigate the role of Rap1 in thrombin-induced cell proliferation, adhesion, and ERK1/2 signaling. By down-regulating Rap1 expression, researchers have demonstrated its critical involvement in G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) mediated pathways and tumor growth. While primarily used as a research tool to study intracellular signaling and inside-out integrin activation, it represents a potential therapeutic approach for inhibiting pathways that drive malignancy in brain tumors.
