Overview

Rapcabtagene autoleucel is an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapy developed by Novartis. It is designed to target the CD19 antigen, which is expressed on the surface of B cells. The drug utilizes the T-Charge platform to preserve T-cell stemness and enhance efficacy. Rapcabtagene autoleucel is being studied for a range of hematologic malignancies and autoimmune diseases, including relapsed/refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), high-risk large B-cell lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)/small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), systemic sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, lupus nephritis, idiopathic inflammatory myopathies, granulomatosis with polyangiitis or microscopic polyangiitis, and myasthenia gravis. The product consists of a patient’s own T cells that are genetically engineered ex vivo to express a CD19-specific CAR and then infused back into the patient to mediate immunologic cytotoxicity against malignant or autoreactive B cells[1][2][3][4].
