Rasagiline + ropinirole is a combination of two small molecule drugs used in the management of Parkinson's disease. Rasagiline is a selective, irreversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B), which increases dopamine levels in the brain by preventing its breakdown, thereby improving motor symptoms associated with Parkinson's disease[2][3][6][8]. Ropinirole is a dopamine agonist that directly stimulates dopamine receptors, mimicking the action of dopamine and helping to alleviate symptoms such as tremor, rigidity, and bradykinesia[1][5]. This combination may be used when monotherapy does not provide adequate symptom control. Both agents are approved for use in Parkinson’s disease; rasagiline can be used as monotherapy or adjunct therapy to levodopa, while ropinirole can also be used for restless legs syndrome[1][4].
