Ravanex

Ravanex is an oral anticoagulant containing rivaroxaban, a highly selective and direct Factor Xa inhibitor. It is primarily indicated for the treatment and secondary prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), as well as for the prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. The drug's mechanism of action involves the competitive inhibition of Factor Xa, a pivotal enzyme in the coagulation cascade where the intrinsic and extrinsic pathways converge. By blocking Factor Xa, Ravanex prevents the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin, thereby inhibiting fibrin clot formation without requiring a cofactor like antithrombin III. Ravanex is developed and marketed by Apex Pharma as a generic alternative to the reference product Xarelto.
