Overview
Ravidasvir is a novel, oral small molecule inhibitor of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) nonstructural protein 5A (NS5A), an essential component of the HCV replication complex. It exhibits potent pan-genotypic inhibition of HCV replication and is used in combination with sofosbuvir for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C infection. Ravidasvir has demonstrated high efficacy, including a 97% cure rate in clinical trials conducted in Malaysia, and is notable for its affordability and accessibility in low-to-middle-income countries. The drug does not interact with cytochrome P450 enzymes but is a substrate for P-glycoprotein (P-gp). It was developed through international collaboration to expand access to direct acting antivirals for HCV[4][5][6][7][8].
