Overview

RB042 is an inhaled splice-switching oligonucleotide (SSO) RNA therapeutic developed by RAGE Biotech for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other chronic inflammatory lung diseases. It targets the Receptor for Advanced Glycation End-products (RAGE), a pro-inflammatory receptor highly expressed in the lung. RB042 works by modulating the splicing of RAGE mRNA to inhibit the production of the membrane-bound pro-inflammatory receptor while simultaneously increasing the levels of endogenous secretory RAGE (esRAGE), a naturally occurring decoy receptor that neutralizes pro-inflammatory ligands. Administered via nebulization, RB042 is designed as a disease-modifying therapy to reduce lung inflammation and damage.
