Overview

rBC2LC-N is a recombinant lectin derived from *Burkholderia cenocepacia* that specifically recognizes undifferentiated pluripotent stem cells (ES/iPS cells) and certain cancer cells, particularly pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). It binds with high affinity to specific O-glycan structures, such as H-type 3 and H-type 4 glycans (Fucα1-2Galβ1-3GalNAc/GlcNAc), which are highly expressed on the surface of undifferentiated cells and cancer stem-like cells. Developed through a collaboration involving the University of Tsukuba, the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and Eisai, rBC2LC-N is primarily utilized as a diagnostic probe or research reagent for identifying undifferentiated cells and monitoring residual cancer cells after chemotherapy. Its ability to target chemoresistant residual cells suggests potential applications in targeted therapy or as a diagnostic marker for minimal residual disease.
