Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RBL-001 is an extended-release injectable solution formulation of the local anesthetic bupivacaine, currently under development by Rebel Medicine. It is designed to provide rapid onset of action and prolonged analgesia lasting 36 to 48 hours. The drug functions by inhibiting voltage-gated sodium channels, thereby blocking nerve conduction and providing local or regional anesthesia. RBL-001 is being investigated for use in various settings, including surgical procedures, dental and oral surgery, obstetrical procedures, and diagnostic or therapeutic interventions to manage acute pain. As of the current pipeline information, RBL-001 is in the preclinical stage of development and represents an earlier-stage asset compared to the company's lead product, Alevatrix™.
