Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RBM-003 is a strong and specific RNA aptamer inhibitor of chymase, a chymotrypsin-like serine protease stored in mast cell granules. Chymase becomes active in damaged tissues, where it cleaves pro-proteins to their active forms, contributing to organ dysfunction such as heart failure. By inhibiting chymase, RBM-003 has demonstrated significant improvement in cardiac function and survival rates in animal models of myocardial infarction (MI). The drug is being developed primarily for the treatment of acute heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases[1][2][5].
