Overview

RBS-004 is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody being developed by RophiBio that targets the α4β7 integrin. It is designed as a biosimilar to vedolizumab (reference product Entyvio) for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. By binding to the α4β7 integrin, RBS-004 acts as an antagonist that blocks the interaction of the integrin with mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1). This inhibition prevents the gut-homing of T-lymphocytes into inflamed gastrointestinal tissue, thereby reducing intestinal inflammation. The drug is currently in the preclinical stage of development and is expected to be administered via intravenous infusion, mirroring the reference product's primary route.
