Overview

RBX2660 is a microbiota-based live biotherapeutic derived from screened human donor stool and formulated as a fecal microbiota suspension for prevention of recurrent *Clostridioides difficile* infection after completion of antibacterial treatment. Originally developed by Rebiotix and later advanced by Ferring Pharmaceuticals, the product works by restoring a healthier gut microbial community rather than acting through a single defined molecular target, thereby increasing colonization resistance against *C. difficile* recurrence. RBX2660 progressed through late-stage clinical development and was subsequently approved in the United States under the brand name Rebyota, becoming the first FDA-approved microbiome-based therapy for recurrent *C. difficile* infection.
