RC-01 is a small molecule drug and a first-in-class bactericidal agent. It acts as a potent inhibitor of the bacterial enzyme LpxC, which is involved in the synthesis of the bacterial outer membrane. RC-01 is being developed for the treatment of serious antibiotic-resistant infections, particularly against gram-negative bacteria such as *Enterobacteriaceae*, *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*, and *Acinetobacter baumannii*. It was initially developed by FUJIFILM Toyama Chemical Co., Ltd. and is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials.
