Overview

RC-402 (ReoCure) is an oncolytic virus therapy developed by ViroCure Australia, a subsidiary of ViroCure Inc. It utilizes a naturally occurring, non-pathogenic mammalian orthoreovirus (reovirus) that selectively replicates in and lyses cancer cells, particularly those with activated Ras signaling pathways. Beyond direct viral oncolysis, RC-402 induces immunogenic cell death, which releases tumor-associated antigens and promotes a pro-inflammatory microenvironment to stimulate a systemic anti-tumor immune response. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical development for the treatment of advanced malignant solid tumors, including colorectal cancer and colorectal liver metastases. RC-402 is being evaluated both as a monotherapy and in combination with the PD-1 inhibitor pembrolizumab (Keytruda) to potentially enhance therapeutic efficacy through synergistic immune activation.
